What is Smart PPE?

Smart PPE is safety equipment that is connected to a unique digital record by a scannable identifier. The identifier is built into the product or label, and can be a 2D code (such as a data matrix or QR code) or an NFC tag. A scan or tap with a mobile phone reveals all critical product information and compliance documentation direct from the brand, without the need to install or sign up to the Scannable platform.

Smart PPE™ powered by Scannable® means the product comes with a built-in identifier – a QR code, data matrix, or NFC chip – which the brand has added and linked using Scannable. As an equipment owner it's ready to manage out of the box, no manual linking or data entry needed. Recognising Scannable Smart PPE is easy, just keep an eye out for the Scannable branded tag on your item.

Just because a brand isn't making Smart PPE with Scannable, doesn't mean it can't be managed and tracked in the Scannable software, there's just an extra step. Scannable works with other brands using NFC, RFID, and 2D codes – you just need to manually connect it with a product in the Scannable database.
